Spain invests 40 million euros in AI implementation for businesses

The Spanish government presented an updated national strategy for the development of AI, announcing its intention to become a world leader in ethical technologies and digital sovereignty. A 40 million euro grant program for small and medium-sized businesses will soon be launched, aimed at funding real cases of neural network implementation.

To reduce dependence on foreign corporations, the country is actively developing ALIA—its own family of open-source AI models trained in Spanish. At the same time, the state is allocating 1.1 billion euros for cybersecurity and is competing for the right to build a European "AI gigafactory."

Amid the technological boom, a historic shift has been recorded in the labor market. For the first time, the IT and digitalization sector has created more new jobs in Spain than the traditional tourism and hospitality industry.
