Google Cloud Lays Second Subsea Cable Between Spain and the USA

Google Cloud has announced the launch of a new subsea cable named Sol, which will connect Santander (Spain) with Florida (USA), as well as Bermuda and the Azores. This is Google’s second transatlantic cable passing through Spain (the first was Grace Hopper in 2021), and it will become the only operational fiber-optic cable between Europe and Florida.

📡 Sol will increase capacity, improve reliability, and reduce latency, strengthening Google’s infrastructure for cloud services and AI. On the Spanish side, the project partner is Telxius, with the landing point located in the city of Santander.
