New Renfe Passes: What Will Change Starting July 1

Starting July 1, 2025, Renfe will discontinue the free travel passes that had been in effect for nearly three years and will introduce new discounted subscription options. For Cercanías and Rodalies trains, a unified monthly pass will be available for €20, a youth pass for €10, and children under 14 will continue to travel for free. A 10-trip ticket will also be available (price depending on the zone, valid for one year).

For Media Distancia trains, subscription passes will offer a 40% discount for regular passengers and a 70% discount for youth. A reusable 10-trip ticket with a 40% discount will also be offered. Children under 14 will continue to travel for free until the end of the year. These measures replace the previous 100% subsidy system and lay the groundwork for the launch of a national unified travel pass planned for 2026.
